A Life Dedicated to Connection
At Relational Leadership Partners, we believe that how we interact makes all the difference.
No one lived that belief more fully than our co-founder, Dr. Sarah Smithson.
Sarah devoted her life and career to helping people build stronger relationships, healthier teams, and more human-centered cultures. Whether working with healthcare leaders, clinicians, executives, or colleagues, she had a remarkable ability to create trust, foster belonging, and help people discover what was possible together.
She understood that meaningful change rarely begins with systems or structures alone - it begins with relationships.
Sarah brought wisdom, curiosity, generosity, and deep compassion to every conversation. She listened carefully, asked thoughtful questions, and created space for others to be seen, heard, and valued. Many who worked with her describe leaving conversations feeling more hopeful, more connected, and more capable of moving forward.
Relational Leadership Partners emerged from a shared vision: that leadership is fundamentally relational and that thriving cultures are built through trust, psychological safety, and authentic human connection. Sarah helped shape not only the mission of our organization but also the values that continue to guide our work every day.
While we deeply miss her presence, her influence remains woven throughout this community - in the partnerships she built, the leaders she inspired, the teams she strengthened, and the countless relationships she nurtured along the way.
We are profoundly grateful for Sarah's friendship, leadership, and unwavering commitment to helping people flourish.
As we continue the work we began together, we do so with gratitude for all she contributed and with a commitment to carrying forward the values she embodied so beautifully.
Sarah often reminded us that relationships matter.
Her life was a testament to that truth.
